Robinson Gill has announced that Ali Besiroglu, leader of the firm’s Crime and Advocacy practice group, has today been promoted to Principal Lawyer.
Jeremy King, Principal at Robinson Gill said: “Ali has been instrumental in establishing our Crime and Advocacy practice group. Under his leadership, the team has grown from strength to strength, becoming widely recognised as experts in their field. The level of dedication he has shown to the vulnerable people of Victoria is humbling – we are incredibly proud of the impact he continues to have on our community.”
Known for his fierce commitment to social justice, Ali has acted in a number of high-profile criminal defence, police misconduct, and coronial inquest cases. Unafraid to take on powerful state defendants, he has become a voice for marginalised groups and victims of abuse within the police and prison system.
Ali is also frequently at the forefront of law reform efforts with an eye fixed on accountability in the police brutality and coronial inquest space. His strategic litigation work is well publicised, and he continues to influence the direction of the courts to fight wrongdoing by those in positions of power.
Accepting his promotion, Ali said, “It is a real honour to be welcomed into the Robinson Gill Principal group. Over the past five years, our team has achieved fantastic legal outcomes in Victoria – and none of these would have been possible without the Partnership’s unwavering support. As a Principal Lawyer, I intend to continue the fight for integrity and accountability in our justice system, and I’m excited to continue building on the Robinson Gill legacy which is known for its excellence in service delivery”.
